I am a NEUROLOGIST by training and a HUMANIST by inclination (wait, let me get my tongue out of my cheek). No, I am not
absolutely certain what the term is supposed to mean, but to me it means that one is interested in, passionate about, cares
for, has an opinion about, and given a chance, would do something about, all issues related to human beings. I am sure we
all are, to a certain extent; possibly I am inclined to take it to a different level.
That is why, I would like to use this website to collect and disseminate information about all such issues; I would like
it to be a forum to mobilize opinion, to activate thought, to change attitudes, and so on. At the very least, I would be pleased
if an issue were discussed here and in the end the participants were more proactive about it, more passionate about it, than
when they started out. If this happened on a regular basis, I would believe that this website is genuinely playing the role
that I hoped for when I set about compiling it.
For a direct taste of my own opinions, and to post your own, I invite you to go to my blog site: https://drphaniraj.tripod.com/blog/
Since this is the homepage, there will be a little bit about myself in this page.
I am a practising clinical neurologist; this means that I spend my working time at a hospital, I see patients with primarily
neurological problems, and do my best to solve their problems, to the extent that they are related to my field of expertise.
To be more specific, I deal with headache, fits, paralysis, loss of consciousness, brain infections, strokes, and so on.
Yes, I do attend to emergencies; most of our patients who come in with major sicknesses are very ill and need intensive
care. On a daily basis I see about 15-20 in-patients; about 20-40% of these are seriously ill and in the ICU, possibly on
ventilators.
I am currently in a group practise; this means that three (perhaps more in the future) neurologists co-operate with each
other, provide support, and collaborate in the care of all these patients.
Our leader is Dr. Subhashini Prabhakar; she was erstwhile head of department of Neurology at the Christian Medical College,
Vellore. She is an extremely kind and gentle lady, very knowledgeable and wise, having trained in premier institutions in
the US (Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio) and Montreal Neurological Institute, Montreal, Canada. She is a product of Lady
Hardinge Medical College in N Delhi, and has now settled in Hyderabad.
My other colleague is Dr Sudhir Kumar, a product of CMC, Vellore. He is in a class of his own, having broken several records
in publications in Neurology, and is at present serving on the Editorial Board of NEUROLOGY INDIA. He is extremely intelligent
and a warm human being, a rare combination indeed, with a gentle sense of humor and an amiable disposition. For more of his
sense of humor please visit his wepage by clicking here.
I myself am a product of NIZAM'S INSTITUTE of MEDICAL SCIENCES, and have been practising since 2000 (6 years), 3 of them
in Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.
I invite you to visit the rest of the webpage, to learn more about us and about NEUROLOGY, which is the principal focus
of this "magazine" though I have used these pages to post a few family photographs as well!

To create this e-zine, I just sat down and thought to myself: what do I like to read? The content comes from a variety
of sources: some I've written myself, some has been written by friends, and some has been contributed by other Internet users
just like you.
I hope you enjoy this e-zine. Be sure to send e-mail to let me know what you think (or to contribute
articles or ideas). I'll be updating frequently, so check back often!
